Telangana : PVR launches first 4 screen multiplex in Nizamabad

Nizamabad, Aug 12: PVR Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibition company in India, on Friday announced the launch of its first multiplex at Venu mall in Nizamabad of Telangana

The newly opened four-screen property is integrated with best-in-class theatrical solutions and a host of personalized hospitality services to offer an immersive and seamless cinematic experience, the company said in a release here. With this launch, PVR Cinemas consolidated its foothold in Telangana with 71 screens in 13 properties and 299 screens across 49 properties in South. The new property has a total seating capacity of 1212 audiences and marks the entry of the first National multiplex chain in Nizamabad. The 4-screen property is equipped with cutting-edge cinematic technologies including 2K projectors, Next-Gen 3D screens and Dolby Atmos sound. Speaking on the launch, Mr Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR Limited, said, “South has a strong base for movie culture and there is great scope for expansion in the backdrop of a vibrant film industry. Our entry in Nizamabad is aligned to the company’s strategy to increase its presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities to provide the local population access to best in class entertainment facilities and an enhanced movie going experience.” ‘The new multiplex will be the first theatre in the city to feature recliners in all auditoriums along with Dolby Atmos immersive sound experience. Is Elon Musk coming up with new social media site X.com amid Twitter legal feud?

Washington [US], August 12: Amid his ongoing legal battle against Twitter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased a potential social media site of his own as a competitor for Twitter.

While responding to a question from one of his followers, Musk dropped a cryptic tweet, hinting at a potential new social media platform 'X.com'. On Tuesday, a social media user asked the billionaire tech tycoon whether he had given any thought to creating his own social platform. Musk, who is quite active on Twitter, noticed the question and responded by just writing "X.com".

X.com used to be the domain name of a startup Musk founded two decades ago, which he later merged with financial services company PayPal. In fact, last week, Musk talked about the website during Tesla's annual shareholder meeting last week as well. "I do sort of have a grander vision for what I thought X Corporation could have been back in the day. It's a pretty grand vision and of course that could be started from scratch but I think Twitter would accelerate that by three to five years," Musk had reportedly said. The tweet comes at a time when Musk is involved in a high-stakes legal battle with Twitter. ' Twitter recently sued Musk after he decided to back out of the USD 44 billion takeover deal. In April, Musk reached an acquisition agreement with Twitter at USD 54.20 per share in a transaction valued at approximately USD 44 billion. However, Musk put the deal on hold in May to allow his team to review the veracity of Twitter's claim that less than 5 per cent of accounts on the platform are bots or spam. Back in June, Musk had openly accused the microblogging website of breaching the merger agreement and threatened to walk away and call off the acquisition of the social media company for not providing the data he has requested on spam and fake accounts. Musk alleged that Twitter is "actively resisting and thwarting his information rights" as outlined by the deal, CNN reported, citing the letter he sent to Twitter's head of legal, policy and trust, Vijaya Gadde.

Musk demanded that Twitter turn over information about its testing methodologies to support its claims that bots and fake accounts constitute less than 5 per cent of the platform's active user base, a figure the company has consistently stated for years in boilerplate public disclosures.

PK Foundation joins hands with Ricky Kej to promote sustainable fashion

New Delhi, Aug 10 : Prabha Khaitan Foundation along with Grammy Award-winner Ricky Kej on Wednesday launched'ReWear4Earth' campaign to promote sustainable fashion in order to preserve the environment.

"We are pleased to announce our brand new initiative #ReWear4Earth which will focus on fashion and sustainability. The initiative was inspired by Grammy Award-winner Ricky Kej after he tweeted his pictures earlier this year wearing the same outfit on two of the biggest platforms on the planet - while winning his Grammy Award in Las Vegas, and on the Cannes Red Carpet with the hashtag #ReWear4Earth,"the Kolkata-based Foundation, which works in creating awareness of sustainable development and India’s ecosystem and biodiversity, said in a statement.

Citing the reasons behind launching of the campaign, the NGO said, "For decades, repeating an outfit for galas and events would be considered a fashion blunder- encouraging people to switch up outfits for every event, making clothes single use. It's time to change that narrative. It's time we consider our planet in this equation. Fashion can be trendy more than once. We need to buy fewer clothes, and wear them repeatedly, proudly."

"Fast fashion isn’t always fashionable, especially when we consider its impact on our planet. The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries on the planet.

The use of toxic textile dyes, cheap materials and massive use of water translates to environmental pollution and degradation," it said.

In addition, microplastics and chemical contaminants leach out from fabrics and find their way into the oceans. Microplastics play a significant part in the killing of over 100 million marine animals and over one million seabirds each year. Most fabrics today are not entirely biodegradable and end up in a landfill, or in the oceans, it claimed.

The Foundation and the Grammy Award Winner urged everyone to re-wear outfits for different occasions and do their part in reducing damage dealt to the earth.
